Federal Specialized Services, LLC (FSS) services include: 

Legal representation in Medicare regulatory issues and related tasks

FSS has a team of 40 subject matter experts and professionals with an unmatched depth of knowledge in the complete range of Provider Reimbursement Review Board (PRRB) appeals, audit and reimbursement matters, cost report issues and related subjects, the Provider Statistical and Reimbursement (PS&R) Report, and the Interns and Residents Information System (IRIS). 

FSS has the talent and capability to meet the very demanding requirements of serving the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Conducting administrative hearings

FSS is the federal administrative hearing body for Organ Procurement Organization and Histocompatibility Laboratory appeals, and provider appeals that have a reimbursement effect less than $10,000. Our staff have held hearing officer positions with the PRRB and the Children’s Hospital General Medical Education Review Board.

Conference management and logistic support

FSS has extensive experience in providing conference and meeting management and logistical support. FSS manages high-profile conferences, meetings, and workgroups for the federal government. 

FSS plans the location of the event, procures accommodations and conference rooms (ensuring proper audio and visual amenities), and arranges transportation to the event. Additionally, FSS organizes attendee dinners and entertainment activities.  FSS prepares and edits event materials and copies and distributes these materials to event attendees. FSS provides administrative support during the events, and prepares, edits, and distributes minutes of the events in a timely fashion.

Project management

FSS was awarded a GSA contract to perform project management services after demonstrating the historical ability to successfully manage government contracts worth millions of dollars. FSS accomplishes this with an effective project management plan, one that includes management strategy and processes for all contract activities. FSS believes that effective communication with its clients is a priority; therefore, FSS constantly keeps its clients apprised of ongoing activities through routine conference calls and detailed workload and project reporting.

FSS utilizes a federally approved accounting system that is capable of monitoring labor hours, total cost, the difference between budgeted and actual labor hours as well as other hours and costs associated with a contract or task order. FSS's accounting system has successfully managed Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee contracts and has the ability to successfully manage all contract types.

Auditing

FSS has professional accountants and auditors, including Certified Public Accountants. They are experienced in auditing various types of health care entities, with the focus being on conducting compliance reviews. 

FSS understands that government agencies have limited resources.  With this in mind, FSS is committed to an audit approach that is thorough and cost-effective.

Training

FSS has the capability to provided training in the areas of Medicare cost reporting and reimbursement, database implementation and management, and procedural and substantive litigation. FSS provides in-person trainings and webinars.
